Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education regular meeting (May 23, 2018): Forsythe Middle School, 1655 Newport Rd
The Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) Board of Education (BOE) trustees will vote themselves into executive session at 5:00 PM this evening, citing attorney/client privilege. Executive sessions are closed to the public. The regular meeting begins at 7:00 PM.

The meeting will begin with a performance by Skyline High School’s a cappella group led by Lyn CieChanski.
Special recognition will be given to winners of the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber Exemplary Educational Endeavors (E3) Awards. Lisa Cope of Carpenter Elementary was named the 2018 Washtenaw County Teacher of the Year. Patricia Jenkins of Skyline was named the 2018 Washtenaw County Distinguished Teacher of the Year. Carpenter Elementary’s “I Got You” Kindness Project was named 2018 Project of the Year.
Three information items will be presented to the board. The Monthly Budget Monitoring Report for April will be given. Superintendent Jeanice Swift will walk through the month-by-month assessment calendar. Current voter bonds and millages will be reviewed.
First briefing items this meeting include: Tennis Courts Renewal; Pattengill Fire Restoration and Renovation; and the Proposed 2018-19 Budget. No action is taken on first briefing items.
The first public hearing on the 2018-19 Budget will be held at tonight’s meeting.
Two second briefing items are on the agenda: the 2018-19 Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD) Budget and Summer 2018 Infrastructure Improvements. The ISD is required to have its General Fund budget reviewed by its constituent districts each year.
If the Summer 2018 Infrastructure Improvements are approved, Best Asphalt of Romulus, Michigan will make paving restorations, asphalt, and storm water repairs this summer, in the amount of $1,068,875, at King, Mitchell, and Angell Elementary Schools.
The trustee will vote on the second briefing items when they vote on the consent agenda.
Board action will be taken on approving a 2018/19 Millage Resolution.
