Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education regular meeting (January 27, 2016): Forsythe Middle School, 1655 Newport Rd.
During tonight’s meeting, beginning at 7:00 PM, the board will hear an informational report on districtwide ACT results. They will also be given first briefing reports that include the Mitchell expansion project, an Internet service expansion, and a technology firewall purchase.
Additionally, the board will be presented with a special briefing on the district liability insurance bid. Despite receiving two insurance proposals with lower premiums, the recommendation will be for the district to continue with Daly Merritt for a total cost of $771,024. The general fund budget will cover the costs of the insurance premiums.
Voting tonight will be on the liability insurance bid recommendation and on the adoption of the revised Policy 1300, which focuses on participation at board meetings.

The first board meeting in January is dedicated to organizing the trustees for the remainder of the year. While I was unable to attend this year’s organizational meeting, I am able to report out the end results.

Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education regular meeting (December 16, 2015): Forsythe Middle School, 1655 Newport Rd
The board is holding an executive session at 5:30 PM, citing attorney/client privilege.
During the regular meeting, beginning at 7:00 PM, special recognition will be given to Sherri Hane, the 2015 Elementary Science Teacher of the Year and to Marci Tuzinsky, recognized as the 2015 Distinguished Educator Award and the 2015 Alumni Achievement Award for Mathematics.
The trustees will hear an update on the substitute teacher plan, the monthly budget monitoring report, and the annual enrollment report. There will be a special briefing on in-district transfers and schools of choice approval.
Voting tonight will be on the resolution to support the county-wide special education millage ballot proposal, the soundfield replacement project, and the student achievement data warehouse bid.
