AAPS Students Making Gains on ACT; Board OKs Mitchell Expansion

Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education regular meeting (January 27, 2016): Forsythe Middle School, 1655 Newport Rd.

During tonight’s meeting, beginning at 7:00 PM, the board will hear an informational report on districtwide ACT results.  They will also be given first briefing reports that include the Mitchell expansion project, an Internet service expansion, and a technology firewall purchase.

Additionally, the board will be presented with a special briefing on the district liability insurance bid. Despite receiving two insurance proposals with lower premiums, the recommendation will be for the district to continue with Daly Merritt for a total cost of $771,024. The general fund budget will cover the costs of the insurance premiums.

Voting tonight will be on the liability insurance bid recommendation and on the adoption of the revised Policy 1300, which focuses on participation at board meetings.

Update: I’ll be tweeting the meeting instead, since I’ve run into technical difficulties. Follow along at @annarbivore.
